Transform, Interact, Learn, Engage Program

Learning Technology Programming Coordinator (2013-2016)

The University of Iowa Transform, Interact, Learn, Engage (TILE) Program is committed to transforming education and increasing opportunities for student success by transforming teaching practices, generating lively interaction, enhanced learning, and increasing overall faculty/student engagement.

What I accomplished:

  • Managed operations of TILE Program including internal and external communications efforts, tours, professional development for faculty, technology trainings, data analytics and observations for future program visioning.
  • Launched, edited and published monthly e-newsletter with ConstantContact that included relevant topics of interest for TILE-trained faculty, including features of courses, teaching pedagogies, events, just-in-time teaching tips, instructional technologies, and active learning research. After 6 months, the readership grew by 300% and provided the necessary justification to launch a Newsletter Committee that would later roll-out a campus-wide Teaching, Learning & Technology newsletter.
  • Developed new classroom observation protocol to detail interactions between students, instructors and technology.
  • The findings of a semester long assessment of the technology enhanced learning spaces lead to new timely ideas for professional development, feedback to space design committees about technology and ideas for future space uses and designs. In addition, the findings sparked a lively discussion at an invited presentation talk for a national conference, The Professional Organizational Development Conference (the "it" conference for professional development for faculty in higher education).
  • Provided training to over 350 instructors through the internationally recognized pedagogical training program that accompanies access to these tech-infused classrooms on campus.
