Card Sort Task

Goals

Gather perceptions of job postings and determine factors used in decision-making when users apply for jobs online.

Frequency measures from this study allowed the team to determine what features are most important to users.

Methods

Using the card sort task and think aloud, I surveyed seven target users and presented them with 31 different cards of job post features and asked they pick the cards that were most critical for deciding whether to apply for a job. Then users were asked to rank the subset of chosen cards from “Most important” to “Least Important”. From this we gain two measures, frequency and rank.

Deliverables

  • A list of most important features in taking actionable behavior to apply helped to inform the design and engineering of the product.
  • The company used these features to populate job postings, channel layout wireframes and modify the product development roadmap.
